A Lesson On The Galactic Center

Dec 19, 2025

Have you heard of the Galactic Center? Think it sounds like make-believe? I get it, the name seems a little...out there. But it's actually a scientifically studied place in our universe. And I'm starting to wonder if it (and the many other black holes located in the part of the zodiac that we lovingly call Sagittarius) has a part to play in why Sagittarius is a sign often associated with strong intuition.

What Is The Galactic Center?

The Earth revolves around the Sun and the Sun orbits around the Galactic Center.

The Galactic Center is the rotational center of our Milky Way galaxy. Among other things, it emits radio waves.

Astrology And The Galactic Center

You can locate the Galactic Center in your natal chart at 27 degrees Sagittarius.

Astrologically, the Galactic Center is thought to be a cosmic transmitter (remember, radio waves?). It’s potentially a point of higher consciousness, spiritual insight, and wisdom. When a planet is conjunct the Galactic Center, it’s thought to be “plugged into” a type of metaphysical broadcast that amplifies the planet’s archetype with spiritual or evolutionary clarity or purpose.

Neptune And The Galactic Center

I attended an astrology event where someone asked the presenter what they thought brought about the recent surge of interest in astrology. Their answer - the internet. It made it easier and faster to cast charts. Access to information and the ability to learn about astrology practices and techniques was made infinitely easier.

I agree with that, but have two things to add:

  1. Neptune

  2. The Galactic Center.

Neptune was first discovered by a man named Lalande in 1795, but he thought it was a star. Nothing special was made of it. It wasn’t until 1846 that Neptune was finally “discovered” and written into the history books. Bookended by this time frame, Neptune was transiting Sagittarius between early 1806 and late 1820. It’s considered to have been conjunct the Galactic Center most specifically during the time frames of February-June 1817, December 1817-January 1818, and June-November 1818.

Back to the present day and the wider acceptance of astrology. The first program made to compute astrology data was created in 1977. At this time, Neptune was once again transiting conjunct the Galactic Center. Neptune takes approximately 165 years to complete an orbit around the sun, so this was the first time it had been back to this spot since it was discovered.

Neptune was transiting the sign of Sagittarius from the dates of January 4, 1970 to May 2, 1970, and again from November 6, 1970 to January 18, 1984. Its last pass of 27 degrees Sagittarius was completed on November 25, 1983.

The official date considered for the birthday of the internet is January 1, 1983. It was made available to the broad public in April 1993.

Astrology And Awareness

It’s believed in astrology circles that new planets are discovered when we are in need of or are ready for their message.

Neptune is a planet widely associated with consciousness itself. Loosening the bonds of identity.

What better time for it to come into our consciousness than when it was transiting the Galactic Center, the very center of our galaxy.

One last bit to add to this story - - the Galactic Center as we know it today as a black hole, was also discovered during this time that Neptune last transited it.

I hope you’re wondering, “Ok, cool, but how do I work with this information?”

Whether or not you have placements on 27 degrees Sagittarius, you have access to these signals it emits. When you’re up to experimenting, spend some time “defragging your system.” Meditation or energy work are great ways to do this. The goal is to release what is no longer useful in your data/energy bank to make room for clearer incoming data.
