The Galactic Center And Creative Inspiration

Dec 19, 2025

Sagittarius season is coming to a close this Sunday as the Sun leaves the sign and enters Capricorn.

Before we leave our thoughts of Sagittarius behind for the next big pop-astrology thing, it’s worth paying attention to the fact that there are some interesting Sagittarius transits left for us to engage with this year.

Sagittarius - The Zodiacal Home Of The Galactic Center

I recently wrote about the Galactic Center and how it was discovered the last time Neptune transited its location at 27 degrees Sagittarius. Note - the Galactic Center is vast and likely takes up more space than the single astrological degree attributed to its location. Give it a hefty orb.

Full disclosure, I’m personally interested in researching and experimenting with the Galactic Center because I have my natal Neptune placement at 27 degrees Sagittarius. I want to learn more about how we may engage with the Galactic Center. Do you have any planets at or around 27 degrees Sagittarius? Let me know!

How Can You Engage With The Galactic Center?

I’ve been lucky enough to cross paths with one of the predominant astrologers on the Galactic Center, Philip Sedgwick. From his experience, he’s shared that one of the best ways to engage with this space is to get clear. Empty out the excess stuff that you no longer need to retain. Like a computer, defrag.

When you make space, what ideas can now more easily be allowed in? This type of work reminds me a lot of what's needed for a strong creative practice. Which makes me wonder... is our connection to our galaxy’s Galactic Center where many of us pull our creative inspiration from? If we listen to it, can it help guide us on our way?

Experiment with the Galactic Center

I’ve been experimenting with this connection. Here is one of my experiences as an example:

This past April, I was overwhelmed. A meditation marketed as a space clearer to boost your mental clarity came across my email and I decided one exasperated afternoon to lay down on the floor (arbitrarily next to my desk and bookshelf) and went on this 20 minute journey. When the meditation finished, I was in a bit of a haze. I sat up, turned towards my bookshelf, and felt an urge to pick up Steven Forrest’s book, The Inner Sky. I opened it to a random page...and it was a section about Gemini.

Some backstory about The Inner Sky - I accidentally bought this book two different times (Gemini is the sign of the twins) in used book stores without even realizing it. (Up to this point in time, I hadn’t read either copy yet. I have since, and it’s fabulous, totally recommend.) So, here I find myself, a person with a Gemini Moon natally, who owns two copies of this book, and after making space, opened said book to the exact page about Gemini. Ok…

After this took place, I watched an interview Steven Forrest had done with Aliza Kelly. At the end he was promoting his new app, Lila (which is great, by the way) and he spoke about how the app has a calculation to deduce which of the planets in your chart is the strongest. I downloaded the app out of curiosity and laughed out loud when I saw that the Lila app showed my strongest planet to be my Moon in Gemini.

My personal takeaway? Pay attention to that Gemini Moon and explore and nurture it. There is something there I need to understand. The exploration continues!

Current and Upcoming Galactic Center Transits

Everyone can experiment with this. You don’t need to have any placements on this Galactic Center point, but they can potentially make it a little easier.

You can also plan your experiments along with transits to 27 degrees Sagittarius. There are going to be multiple planets transiting this 27 degree point through the end of 2025.

Remaining 2025 Galactic Center Transits:
  • Mars conjunct Galactic Center - 12/11/25

  • Sun conjunct Galactic Center - 12/18/25

  • Moon conjunct Galactic Center - 12/19/25

  • Venus conjunct Galactic Center - 12/22/25

  • Mercury conjunct Galactic Center - 12/30/25

Saturn and Neptune are also currently forming a square to the Galactic Center. When each of these personal planets conjoin with the Galactic Center, they will also be square Saturn and Neptune. Square’s get the reputation as being a harder aspect in that the energy may have some friction or require effort to work through.

The personal planets in astrology are the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars. They move quicker through their orbits and historically are believed to reflect ebbs and flows of individual personality and daily life. Having them all pass this point in the sky over such a short period of time feels poignant to me. It may be that as you move through these dates, the real clarity comes together at the final Mercury conjunction.

The New Moon in Sagittarius

On the day that the Moon is conjunct the Galactic Center, there will also be a New Moon in Sagittarius, which will start a new Moon Family.

Not familiar with Moon Families?

The Lunar Gestation Cycle was discovered by astrologer Dietrich Pessin. While you may be familiar with the four Moon phases that complete over a 29.5 day period, Pessin discovered that these phases also play out over 9 month intervals. Each cycle (called a Moon Family) occurs over a period of 27 months.

Initiated with a New Moon, every 9 months the moon reaches a new phase in the cycle (First Quarter, Full Moon, Last Quarter) around the same astrological degree as the New Moon. The “arch” or focus of the Moon Family cycle is defined by the New Moon but it will take time for the story to shape. You likely won’t understand the story of the cycle until you reach the end and reflect back on the dates as milestones in the story.

The Galactic Center Moon Family of 2025:
  • New Moon - 12/19/25 at 28 degrees Sagittarius

  • 1st Quarter - 9/18/26 at 25 degrees Sagittarius

  • Full Moon - 6/18/27 at 27 degrees Sagittarius

  • Last Quarter - 3/17/28 at 27 degrees Sagittarius

Pay attention to the thoughts and ideas you have pop in your mind through the end of the year as well as on the dates of the Moon Family phases. If any excite you or urge you to dig deeper, write them down and make an effort to explore them. Go on a journey and follow the bread crumbs!

How To Engage With The Galactic Center

There are lots of ways to make space for new ideas to come into your life. Play around with a few that feel interesting or possible for you.

Journal

You can approach your journal practice as a simple purge of current thoughts. You may also want to be more focused and specifically write about ideas or perceptions you used to have that you no longer believe or feel helpful. Write them down and release them symbolically.

It’s also helpful to ask questions. What do you want to know? What do you need help figuring out? It can be a good strategy to ask these as non-personal questions. Think along the lines of, “How would a person wanting to xyz achieve this?”

Try Your Best To Be Grounded

This is why I like meditation so much. You can reach a place where you feel calm and relaxed, clear.

The Galactic Center emanates infrared light. Red is also the color associated with the Root Chakra, the energy center associated with stability and vitality. It’s thought that when your Root Chakra energy is in a balanced and neutral state, you’re able to be more receptive to Earth’s energies. Given the infrared light of the Galactic Center, it’s possible that a balanced Root Chakra is also more receptive to what is coming forth from this black hole in our galaxy.

A meditation to try:

This simple meditation is one used in basic energy cord clearing.

  • Lie or sit comfortably.

  • Imagine a warm, white light surrounding you. Feel it on your skin and notice as it safely penetrates your skin.

  • Allow it to fill you up like a balloon with white light.

  • Feel this bright fullness throughout your body. Scan your body from the tips of your toes to the top of your head. Also, down your arms to your fingertips.

  • Imagine this light radiating from you - as far as six to twelve inches from your physical body.

  • When you’re ready, say these words in your mind or out loud, “ I am filling with divine light. Any contracts, cords, negativity, or chatter surrounding me will be dissolved in this light.”

Feel free to change the language to suit you. The more important thing is to imagine that the light is filling you up and dissolving anything that is not serving you.

You may even experiment with this imaginary light being red.

Energy Hygiene

I think good energy hygiene can be helpful in making you more receptive in these states. Acupuncture, Kundalini yoga, Reiki, and many other modalities exist that you can explore. I’m considering creating a mini bundle of exercises to support your exploration with this. If you’re interested, let me know in the comments!

Be Receptive

Once you are calm, just listen. Notice what comes up and write it down. As you keep working on releasing your own outdated stuff, you may find that these pings come at the most random moments. Pay attention to the thoughts and ideas that come into your mind. And don’t forget to do the work.

I'm currently creating a mini-course about the Galactic Center. If you'd like to join the waitlist, click here.
